Longing for lines? Striving for circles? Make a striking impact with template-based quilting designs! Students will learn how to safely use acrylic templates with a ruler base. We’ll start with simple shapes and mix them to create complex-looking designs. Students will then learn to take these designs beyond the lines by adding freehand quilting.
Borders and Beyond
Don’t stand and stare and wonder what you’ll do with all of those borders! This class will showcase freehand and template-based border designs. Students will learn how to take these designs around corners and around their quilts.
Custom Quilting Basics
We will learn how to make each quilt special. Working from a sampler quilt pattern, we will explore a variety of ways to quilt simple blocks to achieve different looks. We will discuss how to apply custom quilting for a balanced and cohesive effect. Block motifs and borders will no longer be intimidating.
Focus on Freehand Quilting
If you have ever said “I can’t do that” about freehand quilting, come and let us change your mind. Learn how simple freehand quilting can be. We will start with some simple shapes and mix them to create endless designs. Fear freehand no more!

Freehand quilting and quilting with templates will be demonstrated. We’ll also discuss backings, borders, tension and other basic issues.

Sweeten your quilts with ribbon candy designs. More than a simple border, we’ll use ribbon candy designs for a show-stopping effect in blocks, as a background, and in various other ways. See how this one simple design can be adapted to make each quilt a sweet treat.
